Dil Bole Hadippa!!!
Cast – Rani Mukherjee, Shahid Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Dalip Tahil, Poonam Dhillon, Sherlyn Chopra, Rakhi Sawant.
Direction – Anurag Singh
I, Veera Kaur, Left the Right handed batsman. Silence. 2 minutes after that you realize it is a joke and you need to laugh on it!!!!! And it is said at least 10 times in the movie. Anurag Singh might be the only one laughing on this line in this Universe and that includes the aliens of District 9, Alien, ET, Koi…Mil Gaya, etc.

Is batting all about hitting 6 sixes in one over? Is winning a match in cricket all about winning it in the last ball? Is Punjab all about singing and dancing? Though the obvious answer to all these questions is NO, but for Mr. Anurag Singh, director of Dil Bole Hadippa!!!, the answer is YES. We fail to understand the brilliance of Chak De! India. Normally, we would have liked India to take the last penalty stroke and score the winner (an offensive move), but in Chak De! India, Amin made India save the last penalty stroke (a defensive move) and still get as many cheers. In Rocky we have Stallone losing the fight in the end and yet managed to get the cheers from crowd by giving a spirited effort against star boxer. This is what makes a film good. I hate Lagaan’s ending also for that matter.

Cast – Salman Khan, Ayesha Takia, Prakash Raj, Mahesh Manjrekar, Vinod Khanna, Govind Namdeo, Manoj Pahawa
Genre – Tarantino :)
Direction – PrabhuDheva
WARNING – The film is best enjoyed if you don’t try to see any sense and logic in it.

Salman Khan starrer ‘Wanted’ which is a remake of ‘Pokiri’(2006), is a full-on entertainment film filled with everything you want to see in a masala film. As I haven’t seen Pokiri yet, I can’t comment on how much of Wanted is an exact copy of the original. And therefore I am going to review it individually. Though it classifies into the B-grade category, the entertainment is A-class. If anything fails in this film, it is the romance. I feel very sorry for Ayesha Takia who was looking so misplaced in this Men in Action film..

Voices – Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau, John C. Reilly, Crispin Glover, Jennifer Connelly, Fred Tatasciore, Elijah Wood, Alan Oppenheimer, Tom Kane, Helen Wilson
Direction – Shane Acker.

I saw the film on the first day itself only because I wanted to see 9 on 9-9-09. I don’t know whether it was a paid preview or it actually got released everywhere on 9-9-09, because the poster says the release date is 9-9-09 whereas the multiplex said it to be a paid preview. The theatre was occupied by 4 people including me and had there been one person less; the show would have been cancelled. So in a way I was lucky to catch up with the movie but was disappointed that the film isn’t so well publicized in India and it may go unnoticed in India.

Cast – Kay Kay Menon, Nivedita Bhattacharya
Direction – Anurag Kashyap
The first film by Anurag Kashyap, Last Train to Mahakali is a suspense thriller about a man who wants to find a cure for all the deadly viruses that are fatal.
In the film we are shown Kay Kay Menon as an AIIMS student who currently is in jail narrating his story to a female reporter who convinced him to help him get out of the jail. The film really gripped me in between, the way Kashyap was building the suspense. Though the climax was completely unpredictable and unexpected to me, I didn’t like it very much as it resembled to another film written by Anurag Kashyap.
